$650M expansion for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital approved
Cincinnati Children's Hospital will move ahead with a $650 million expansion plan, including an eight-story patient tower, after receiving approval from the Cincinnati City Council.
As the Cincinnati Business Journal reports, the project hasn’t been universally supported. The Avondale Community Council, a group representing the neighborhood surrounding the hospital’s main campus, had opposed the measure, pointing to how Cleveland Clinic’s expansion in an impoverished area hasn’t appeared to help nearby residents.
“Our children will not benefit from your oohs and aaahs,” said Patricia Milton, president of the community council, referring to the scale and price tag of the project.
