New ACA market rule coming
CMS has indicated a new rule aimed at stablizing the Affordable Care Act (ACA)'s insurance exchanges for 2018 is coming, but it isn't offering many details.
The Washington Examiner reports the Office of Management and Budget released a notice of pending regulation on Feb. 1, the same day insurers urged Congress to decide whether cost-sharing reductions will be maintained for 2018. If they're eliminated, insurers have indicated they'd be far less likely to participate in the exchanges next year.
If the rule addresses those issues is a mystery, as the Trump administration's notice doesn't include the text of the proposed rule. It also doesn't indicate whether the rule's details will be divulged before insurers face deadlines in the spring to submit 2018 rates.
