Mumps outbreaks plague college campuses

There have been more mumps outbreaks in 2016, particularly on college campuses, than in decade prior, alarming the medical community and the government.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded more than 3,000 provisional mumps cases in 45 states and Washington, D.C. Those stats are more than triple 2015’s total and it’s the highest tally since 2006, Newsmax reported.

The University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, has 128 confirmed or probable cases since September. Additionally, there have been outbreaks at Yale and Tufts Universities, and the State University of New York at New Paltz.
