Watch what you eat? Not all fitness apps adhere to dietary guidelines
With millions of users one would believe fitness applications have the proven ability to help people lose weight and keep it off. Unfortunately, not all of these apps that claim to improve health follow the HHS's 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines.
In a presentation given by Tania Dhawan, of George Washington University School of Medicine, researchers examined 32 different health and fitness apps to see if they adhere to dietary guidelines.
"It is important that application developers address this information gap so as to safely and effectively achieve the applications' stated goals," the authors wrote.
