Blue Willow Systems brings wearables to seniors
The danger of falling for a senior is a real threat, especially for those who are alone for extended periods of time. Blue Willow Systems is changing the way older individuals are monitored with wearable technology that improves patient monitoring.
After experiencing the loss of his father after he had fallen and gone undetected, Blue Willow Systems Founder and CEO Vikram Devdas developed new ways to monitor seniors 24/7 to reduce such incidents. Blue Willow Systems brings together wearable technology, patient monitoring and cloud sharing to provide care to these elderly patient at a low cost.
Blue Willow System uses wearable and sensors in the senior's living space. Information is constantly being sent to mobile and computers for the review of caregivers and when a threat is detected the system send an alert to notify caregiver immediately of an accident. The system is able to collect data on each patient and report on patient trends and risks, this information can be shared through the systems cloud sharing. The cloud technology allows for caregivers to monitor their patients in multiple locations and on-the go. Blue Willow was made as a software-as-a-service, making it cost effective because you are only paying for the functions that you use.
"Previous technologies required the wearer to pull a string," said Devdas. "What if your mother has a stroke and is incapacitated? Or your grandfather has a heart attack and is unable to move? The automatic features of geo-sensing in the Blue Willow device make previous technologies obsolete."
