Wearable temperature monitor provides caregivers with round-the-clock data

Taking a patient's temperature can be a time-consuming duty for both patient and caregiver, but a new app and wearable patch aim to simplify the process.

TempTraq, a wearable temperature monitor, provides 24/7 information about a patient’s body temperature, which is sent to a mobile app. The patch is worn on the underarm and, once in place, can be activated by entering the partnering app and pressing the start button. The device has a range of up to 40 feet so care is never too far away.  

The patch can give results within seconds. The app also records historical temperature data that can be displayed in a graph or table view, provide alerts when a person’s temperature reaches an unsafe level and allow users to send temperature readings via email to attending physicians. The app can also track what a person eats, drinks and takes medication.
