Burwell: ACA too ingrained to repeal

There are only about six months left in President Obama’s tenure at the White House, which means those in his administration is about to lose their jobs too. But some of them have a lot of work to do before they go.

Health and Human Services Sec. Sylvia M. Burwell said she’s making the most of the last months in her position to protect the Affordable Care Act, which she wouldn’t want to be altered or dismantled if a Republican administration under Donald Trump takes control.

Politico reported that Burwell is travelling throughout the country, making stops at ACA-funded organizations, trying to shore up support by talking about the program’s successes.

Burwell also told the magazine about her hopes that the country’s healthcare system to turn to a prevention-focused model and her belief that the ACA is now too ingrained in American culture for a true repeal.
