Amino introduces free healthcare cost comparison program
Cost comparing apps can do anything from finding you a new house, planning a date and now find you a doctor. With Amino’s new and free app, anyone can search for a doctor in their price range and in their area with just a few clicks according to USA Today.
The app works as both a cost estimator and doctor finder, searching through over 500,000 doctors and 129 health insurers.
Using claims data, algorithms, and human statisticians, the program is able to calculate costs and quality scores. After conducting a survey of 1,500 consumers, Amino found that 60 percent searched for healthcare prices over the internet and decided to capitalize on this online venture. The program is able show consumer’s out-of-pocket expenses, their deductible, and color-codes doctors based on price and region.
"It’s not really transparency if it’s hidden behind all sorts of password protections and portals and it’s so difficult to find that you can’t really gain access to the information," said Amino CEO David Vivero. "So the first thing we do that’s very different is that we’re going direct to consumers and making this information available to everyone on the web for free."
