Tech panel calls for standards in interoperability
Just over a year ago, a number of healthcare facilities joined with Vanderbilt University Medical Center to launch the Center for Medical Interoperability (CMI) to be a provider-side advocate for such efforts.
CMI Executive Director Ed Cantwell hosted a panel with Zane Burke, president of Cerner, and Mike Schatzlein, senior vice president at Ascension Health, which focused on developing and spreading standards.
“If there’s a standard, we can go innovate on that standard in a very robust way and even partner with third parties and venture capitalists to go do some of that work as well because there’s some amazing work to be done,” Burke said.
