Department of Defense Certifies the Robust Security of the Vocera Communication Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE:VCRA), the leading mobile healthcare communications company, today announced that its industry leading communication platform, in use at over 1,000 healthcare facilities, has earned two new certifications for security and privacy.

The Vocera Communication Platform has been awarded an Authority to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), based on compliance with the security and risk management requirements specified by the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). This certification represents the DoD’s highest security level and further validates the security of Vocera’s solutions, which enable multiple operational improvements in response time and efficiency.

ATO certification verifies that the solutions have met the stringent security requirements needed to operate on the DoD network. Vocera solutions are currently being used at DoD healthcare facilities such as Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and Trippler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Vocera Care Experience solution also successfully completed and passed a Service Organization Controls 2 (SOC2) Type 1 audit. This industry-standard audit of information and technology security, technology availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy provides independent assurance and validation of the strong security infrastructure and policies of Vocera’s patient engagement solution. The SOC2 validation confirms that Vocera follows the Security Trust Principles set out by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

“As the leader in complete enterprise communications solutions for healthcare, protecting customers and patients is a top priority for Vocera,” said Brent Lang, president and CEO of Vocera Communications. “These security milestones reinforce our unwavering commitment to the security and privacy of our customers and the patients they serve.”
