Three vendors gain EHR market share, only two lose no customers
Three EHR vendors gained market share in 2014 and just two reportedly lost no clients, according to a KLAS report.
KLAS reviewed nine EHR vendors for the report, "Acute EMR Market Share: How Did My Vendor Fare?"
Approximately 240 organizations selected an EMR in 2014, according to the report.
Epic, Cerner and athenahealth posted a gain in market share in 2014. Epic had the largest net increase of new hospitals in that time, followed by Cerner and then athenahealth.
Epic and athenahealth were the only two vendors who did not lose any clients last year.
"There are a lot of interesting market dynamics that have made this year's market share report one of the most unique in recent years," said report author and KLAS Strategic Operations Director Jon Christensen. "Some of these factors include vendor acquisitions, the overall number of hospital wins Epic had compared to the rest of the market, and the trend among legacy EMR hospital customers selecting competitive EMR products."
