Hospitals improve productivity but face Medicare cuts
A new study found hospital productivity increased significantly from 2002 to 2011, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The study examined hospital care for heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia. However, the authors did not look at Medicare cuts to providers that were included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The Congressional Budget Office projects the cuts will lead to $575 billion in savings by 2019.
