Isabel Healthcare Announces AffiniPartner Agreement with American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)

Ann Arbor, Michigan, February 03, 2015 -- Isabel Healthcare announced today an agreement with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) to offer the Isabel diagnosis decision support tool to its physician assistant (PA) members through their Affinity Partner member benefits program. AAPA is recognized for providing their members insight and knowledge about emerging technologies that can assist PAs in their daily practice. Assisting PAs with developing and broadening their differential in an unbiased way supports cost effective and efficient decisions related to determining the diagnosis, but also appropriate testing, treatment and referrals.

The impact diagnosis error or delayed diagnosis has on cost and quality is driving the quest for solutions that are easy to implement and can assist PAs with efficient diagnosis decision making. Diagnosis error is the most costly, harmful and deadly medical error and in many cases preventable. Providing clinicians with the ability to quickly produce a differential diagnosis is an effective way to ask “what else could be going on” by expanding their perspective and potentially reducing the chance of error or delay.

“AAPA is very excited to be engaged with Isabel Healthcare and their robust decision support solution to help PAs in their delivery of quality healthcare, said Lisa Gables, AAPA chief development officer. “AAPA is always looking for tools and resources to enhance the outstanding work of PAs.”

The Isabel diagnosis decision support solution assists PAs with broadening differential diagnosis and expanding their perspective while working up their patients. Isabel will also provide contextual links to evidence based electronic resources to support effective and efficient decisions related to testing, treatment and management.

”We are proud to become an Affinity Partner of AAPA” said Don Bauman, chief executive officer of Isabel Healthcare “As healthcare has evolved, PAs play an important role in delivering high quality, affordable care and we are pleased to have the opportunity to assist them in their practice of medicine.”
