100 top health apps, according to physicians

 

What health apps are the best? HealthTap surveyed more than 65,000 physicians within its network and 500,000 within its referral network on what they felt are the top 100 health apps on the market.

Apps that ranked the highest for Android operating systems included Weight Watchers Mobile (Weight Watchers International), White Noise Lite (TMSoft), Lose It! (FitNow); First Aid (American Red Cross); and RunKeeper (FitnessKeeper). Those most favored for the iOS operating system include Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker (MyFitnessPal); Weight Watchers Mobile; Lose It!; White Noise Lite; and First Aid.

The physicians ranked surveys based on their medical accuracy and effectivity; usability; and validity and soundness. The most common categories of health apps for both iOS and Android were tailored towared children’s health; healthy eating; and heart health, according to Politico.
