DataMotion Sets Pace for HISPs by Achieving Certificate and Registration Authority Accreditation from EHNAC-DirectTrust.org

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.Dec. 3, 2014 -- DataMotion™ announced today it has achieved accreditation with the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) as both a Certificate Authority (CA) and Registration Authority (RA) from DirectTrust.org and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). As a result, the organization can now verify, validate and issue digital certificates, greatly expediting the process required for secure communications. Already a DTAAP accredited Health Information Service Provider (HISP), the designations further DataMotion's reputation, making it a uniquely complete HISP with an ability to rapidly issue commercial and federal certificates.

For healthcare organizations, this means a fast, streamlined way to:

  • Cost effectively and flexibly handle growth and expand workflows into commercial and federal areas without changing HISPs;
  • Quickly on-board staff with Direct Secure Messaging addresses for the secure exchange of protected health information (PHI) that meets Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) requirements and facilitates better patient outcomes; and
  • Potentially enable patient addressing within the "Direct ecosystem."

Direct Trusted Agent accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions, and ensures compliance with industry-established standards, HIPAA regulations and the Direct Project. EHNAC evaluated DataMotion in areas of privacy, security and confidentiality; technical performance; business practices and organizational resources as it relates to Directed exchange participants. In addition, EHNAC reviewed DataMotion's process of managing and transferring PHI and determined the organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards.

"DataMotion is the HISP that is making things happen," said Bob Janacek, DataMotion's chief technology officer and co-founder. "Early-on, we applied our legacy in secure data delivery to healthcare to become a trusted HISP. Now, with an ability to certify on both the commercial and federal level – and quickly provide Direct Secure Messaging addresses – it's easy for organizations to meet 'real world' communications needs, expand their capabilities and venture into new markets and relationships."

At the core of the HISP's offerings is DataMotion Direct, hailed for solving the interoperability issues preventing the efficient sharing of patient data between electronic health record (EHR) and clinical systems, healthcare providers, business associates and patients. Fast and easy to deploy, the cloud-based DataMotion Direct enables PHI to be sent and received securely, in a manner that conforms to HIPAA and MU2 guidelines. It supports a variety of sensitive data, including C-CDA transition of care documents, medical images and personal messages. DataMotion Direct integrates easily with existing systems to fully support in-network and out-of-network communications.

"We're focused on connecting healthcare to its future," said Bob Bales, CEO of DataMotion. "While we possess a leading record of MU2 attestations and EHR certifications, we want to move the industry beyond simply meeting meaningful use criteria to producing meaningful patient outcomes. Overcoming interoperability issues, and enabling organizations to interact with peers and easily scale to accommodate growth, means more providers will be collaborating on patient care. And, our new CA/RA capabilities set the stage for patients to soon engage their providers directly. This is what the Direct Project, and the future of healthcare, is truly all about."
