Target, Kaiser Permanente partner on new clinics
Big-box chain Target is partnering with Kaiser Permanente in southern California to operate four clinics open to all customers, regardless of insurance. The first Target Clinic opened in 2001 and they are now in seven states where family nurse practitioners and physician assistants treat minor illnesses and injuries. The clinics offer more than 60 services on a walk-in basis and have the capacity to see 50-60 patients per day. “We look forward to working with Kaiser Permanente to make their exceptional care and services available to the entire community, while ushering in the next generation of health care service models,” said Target's medical director, Kevin Ronneberg, MD, in a release. Local guests will have access to a wide array of primary health care services, as well as expanded services not available at any other Target Clinic location. The new Target Clinics include telemedicine technology, where Kaiser Permanente physicians are available for private videoconference consultations.
