FDA expedites approval for two Ebola tests

The FDA has issued emergency authorization for two new Ebola tests that can detect the virus in a blood or urine sample in one hour, reports Reuters.

Unlike others, these tests—made by Salt Lake City-based BioFire, a subsidiary of medical diagnostics maker BioMerieux—can be used in a hospital and do not need to be sent to specialized labs.
