CMS launches Open Payments search tool
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a beta search tool to help consumers better conduct searches of the Open Payments database, which contains information on physicians' corporate financial relationships.
In a CMS post, Shantanu Agrawal, MD, CMS deputy administrator and director of its Center for Program Integrity, requested feedback on the tool that now allows users to search for a doctor by name.
"Additional enhancements will be made available in coming weeks, including displays of summary data, data charts, graphs, as well as more detailed data. These innovative improvements will add value to both consumers and researchers using the Open Payments data," wrote Agrawal.
In addition, the agency is adding more granular information on the data released, including updating the data about the company that made the payment, according to Agrawal.
