Healthcare industry struggles to contain breaches

The healthcare industry is a frequent victim of data breaches and malicious hacking, and organizations struggle to contain the threat, reports CNNMoney.

About 90 percent of healthcare organizations have exposed their patients’ data, or had it stolen, in 2012 and 2013—and as of mid-August, the healthcare industry has been hit with 204 incidents, representing nearly half of all major breaches across all industries, according to the story.

"They can't keep up [with hackers]," J.D. Sherry, who advises hospitals for cybersecurity firm Trend Micro, told CNNMoney. "Their resources are tremendously overwhelmed. With day-to-day business, IT security is not top of mind."
