CMS tool helps hospitals translate impact of MU proposed rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published an online tool to help hospitals gauge the impact of a proposed rule that offers more flexibility in EHR certification.

Under the proposal, which was released in May, CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) would let providers use the 2011 Edition certified EHR technology (CEHRT) or a combination of 2011 and 2014 Edition CEHRT for the EHR reporting period in 2014 for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. 

Using the interactive tool, hospitals can figure out their options for attestation based on their current EHR system. Access it here.
