Global eRx market to hit $888M by 2019

The global e-prescribing market is expected grow to an estimated $887.8 million by 2019.

According to a market report published by Transparency Market Research "E-Prescribing Market-Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2013 - 2019," the global eRx market was valued at $250.2 million in 2013.

The global eRx market's growth is due, in part, to various goverment programs to implement eRx systems to improve healthcare quality and reduce medication errors. Implementation of EHRs with eRx systems also drives the eRx market. The market faces several challenges, however, including high costs, privacy and security concerns, lack of high-speed broadband facilities and lack of IT professionals in rural areas.

Europe is the largest eRx market but North America is the fastest growing region. Use of eRx in Asia is increasing due to medical infrastructure development and government initiative programs.
