Ct. insurance exchange goes mobile

Need health insurance? There’s an app for that.

Connecticut’s health insurance exchange, Access Health CT, announced the launch of the first state health exchange mobile app for consumers to compare plans, enroll and review account information.

The free app allows consumers to browse anonymously and determine potential eligibility for financial assistance. Once an individual has an account and has applied for financial assistance electronically, he or she can log-in and review summary information on their household enrollments, review uploaded documents and even submit verification documents using a phone's camera feature.

“During the 2014 open enrollment period, 25 percent of consumers accessed our website from a mobile device. This app will make it much easier for consumers to compare and shop on-the-go and will be another tool for our residents, brokers and outreach workers to assist people in their communities,” said Kevin Counihan, Access Health CT CEO, in a statement.

The app currently is available from the Apple iTunes App Store for iPhone operating iOS 6 or later, and the Google Play Store for Android devices running Android 2.3 or later.
