Burwell confirmed as new HHS chief
The Senate voted 78-17 to confirm Sylvia Mathews Burwell as the Department of Health & Human Services’ new secretary.
In her new role, Burwell will seek to restore faith in both the agency and the Affordable Care Act after technical difficulties plagued the roll-out of healthcare.gov last year.
Earlier this year President Obama said he nominated Burwell, who most recently served as director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, because she is a “proven manager” who “knows how to deliver results.”
