AHRQ updates Horizon Scan on latest health IT innovations
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has published the tenth edition of its Healthcare Horizon Scanning System, an update that includes 35 new technologies and identifies 487 innovations that are being tracked for their potential impact on clinical care, healthcare systems, patient outcomes and costs.
The emerging healthcare technology innovations touch on several areas, including cancer, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression and other mental health disorders.
“Identifying emerging healthcare technologies and innovations can help inform patient-centered outcomes research and support planning and prioritization of research resources. Health plans and health system purchasers need this information to plan for the future, as they consider upcoming innovations on the horizon,” according to an AHRQ notice.
The update reflects AHRQ’s December 2013 Potential High Impact Reports, which was developed by the Effective Health Care Program.
