KLAS identifies top EMRs for midsize physician practices

As many midsize physician practices report replacing their EMRs or feeling stuck with an EMR, Epic, athenahealth and Greenway Medical have set themselves apart as having the fewest customer complaints, according to a KLAS report.

The report, “Ambulatory EMR (11-75 physicians) Can Any Vendor Set a High Standard?” examines midsize physician practice experiences with EMRs, particularly in the areas of usability, workflow and integration. As part of the report, KLAS interviewed providers using products from Allscripts, athenahealth, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, e-MDs, Epic, GE, Greenway Medical, McKesson, MEDITECH, NextGen and SRSsoft.

"Clinicians and IT often have different sets of priorities. Vendors must balance the needs of both groups in order to be successful, and athenahealth, Epic and Greenway have done the best job of that,” said report author and KLAS Research Director Erik Bermudez in a statement.
