Patients pay for telehealth with a Tweet

Telecure, a provider of services to people seeking care via telephone and video medical consultations, announced that it is allowing urgent care patients to receive free healthcare in exchange for sharing via social media. Telecure is a virtual branch of Action Urgent Care in California.

The program, called Pay-With-A-Tweet, allows California patients to pay for their urgent care by tweeting on Twitter or posting a message about the service on Facebook.

Through the initiative, patients can avoid Telecure's $25 flat-rate fee to consult with a medical provider.

“We’re excited to be the only medical provider to give patients the option to utilize social media for free healthcare,” said Garick Hismatullin, CEO of Telecure, in a statement. “We are dedicated to raising awareness of alternative ways of receiving quality healthcare and look forward to rolling out in more states in early 2014.”
