$150M in HHS grants to expand healthcare access
The Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has funneled $150 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support 236 health center sites nationwide, according to an agency announcement.
The community health centers, which will improve access to “comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary healthcare services,” are expected to reach approximately 1.25 million people, according to HRSA. The agency will in particular support centers in communities with historically high uninsurance rates, and they will facilitate outreach and enrollment in the health insurance marketplace.
