Novant Health Brings a New Approach to the Patient Experience with doxo

Novant Health and doxo today announced Novant Health has launched on doxo to deliver bills, simplify the patient experience and eliminate unnecessary costs across all thirteen of its hospitals. Novant Health patients can now receive and pay their healthcare statements, as well as organize EOB’s and other documents that surround episodes of care, directly from their free personal doxo account – online or through their doxo mobile app.

“Healthcare billing has long been a confusing process for patients. Our goal is to give our patients more control, reduce complexity and provide them with more convenient ways to interact with us,” said April York, senior director, patient finance at Novant Health. “doxo makes it much easier for our patients to receive statements and make payments, and deliver substantial savings for Novant Health at the same time.  We’re off to a solid start on doxo and look forward to continued growth.”

Novant Health patients can connect on doxo by visiting http://www.doxo.com/novant-health or by downloading the iPhone or Android app.

Each time a patient connects to Novant Health on doxo, their bills and account documents are automatically delivered directly to their free doxo digital file cabinet, accessed online or via the doxo iPhone and Android mobile app. Patients can organize all their accounts – for healthcare, and for other service providers like insurance, phone and cable, and banking – all in one place.  Documents can be printed or downloaded at anytime, and easily backed up to the customer’s own hard drive or to Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box.  Further, with doxoPAY, patients can quickly pay bills, or set up auto-pay with user-specified limits. Users can also link their Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail or other personal email to automatically import and archive account related emails.

“We aim to change the way health providers and health plans address the problem of uncoordinated patient communications,” said John Talaga, vice president, healthcare at doxo. “Novant Health is a patient-centered health system that brings advanced technologies to market with the goal of making their patients’ lives easier. doxo not only simplifies the billing process, but it raises the bar with an intuitive way to connect and communicate with patients.”

Novant Health launched on doxo through Apex Information Technologies, its statement-processing partner, without requiring IT resources or a shift in project priorities. By leveraging the data that was already going to Apex, for statement processing, Novant Health was able to add the doxo capabilities in parallel with their Epic conversion.

“Working with doxo is a great example of how companies can focus on the customer needs and partner to bring great innovation to market.” said Patrick Maurer, president at Apex Information Technologies. “The process to integrate doxo was simple and straight-forward – enabling us to make it part of our electronic and paper platform.”
