Health eVillages receives $58K boost
Health eVillages, a provider of mHealth technology to rural healthcare providers worldwide, reeled in $58,000 in contributions thanks to $38,000 in revenues from its inaugural “Apps Saves Lives” golf tournament in Hillsborough Township, N.J. and a $20,000 grant from the Vodafone Americas Foundation, according to a press release.
The Aug. 16 golf tournament, hosted by Physicians Interactive and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, attracted representatives from 15 life science organizations.
“There was an electrifying sense of energy throughout the day at the tournament as everyone united in support of our mission to use mobile apps to help save lives and advance care delivery in underserved regions around the world,” said Donato Tramuto, founder of Health eVillages and chairman of the board and CEO of Physicians Interactive, in the announcement.
The Vodafone Americas Foundation grant to Health eVillages will be used to provide mHealth technology to global healthcare providers in challenging clinical environments.
Health eVillages has supported clinicians who have conducted more than 50,000 patient interactions in underserved areas. The organization provides iPods and iPads loaded with medical reference and clinical decision support apps through six pilot programs to medical professionals in Uganda, Kenya, China, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Pacific Island nations and rural Louisiana.
