AMDIS: Lessons from a first year CMIO
Wayne Fellmeth, MD, CMIO of Hunterdon Healthcare in Flemington, NJ, shared his experience as a first-timer in the role during a presentation at the AMDIS 22nd Annual Physician-Computer Connection Symposium in Ojai, Calif., on June 27.
Among his advice: Don’t be the Lone Ranger. Someone else has already done this, so learn from them. Meaningful Use and using it meaningfully are not the same thing. You can do either but you need to do both. Implement EHRs and other health IT as a clinical project with IT support, not the other way around.
