CMS seeks quality measure suggestions
The public is welcome to submit suggestions to new quality measures to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for inclusion in the Physician Quality Reporting System program in coming years.
The CMS “Call for Measures” runs through July 1. “CMS seeks a quality set of measures that are outcome-based rather than clinical process measures and fall into one of the National Quality Strategy priorities that work to address known measure and performance gaps,” according to a CMS explanation. Ideally, measures will address six domains: patient safety, person/caregiver experience and outcomes, communication and care coordination, effective clinical care, community/population health, and efficiency and cost reduction.
CMS has issued a fact sheet and provided more explanation on the Call for Measures web page. Measures should be submitted in the provided format, not be duplicative of existing or proposed measures, address the measure selection criteria and include the required documentation.
