RSNA: Barco unveils suite of display products

Barco introduced an iPad quality analysis (QA) tool, tomosynthesis display system and Nexxis, a video-over-IP tool for image distribution in the operating room, at the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago, Nov. 27 to Dec. 2.

MediCal QAWeb Mobile is a QA and calibration software tool for use with mobile viewing applications to review clinical images. When integrated into a viewing application, QAWeb Mobile enables diagnostic viewing of DICOM-quality images when medical professionals are away from their workstation. The software tool ensures visual calibration in eight steps and offers a visual confidence test, featuring up to 20 test patterns.

Barco also presented Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP for digital breast imaging, which increases conspicuity of small details. The system includes on-demand ultra-illumination and a built-in lightbox.

Nexxis, which was presented as a work in progress, has been designed to meet the performance standards and requirements of medical imaging in the surgical suite, such as high-quality imaging, ultra-low latency and real-time communication, Barco said. Nexxis supports specialist collaboration by allowing surgeons and clinicians to share audio and video in real time with other surgical suites. With Nexxis, other patient information can be accessed from inside the OR.
Nexxis offers tools that assist technical staff to remotely monitor, troubleshoot and solve technical problems in the operating room. The system also comprises adapters to encode and decode video and data to and from IP streams. The Nexxis is not yet commercially available in the U.S., Barco said.
