HIMSS, CHIME announce 2012 CIO of the year

James Turnbull, MBA, CIO at University of Utah Health Care (UUHC) in Salt Lake City, was selected by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to receive the 2012 CIO of the Year award.

A CHIME member since 1993, Turnbull was previously employed as CIO at Children's Hospital in Denver and as CIO at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Under his leadership, both UUHC and Children's Hospital received "most wired" awards and Children's Hospital was recognized by market researcher KLAS as the most integrated children's hospital.

An award will be presented to Turnbull March 5 at the annual HIMSS conference in New Orleans.
