NQF endorses 12 patient safety measures
The National Quality Forum (NQF) has endorsed 12 patient safety measures focused on complications, including falls, pressure ulcers, infections and other quality concerns.
Complications are commonly occurring and costly adverse events, according to a Dec. 17 statement. For instance, falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among the elderly costs associated with falls among the elderly could rise to $30 billion in 2020.
The measures were evaluated as part of the NQF’s patient safety endorsement project, which has also address measures relating to care coordination, venous thromboembolism and medication documentation.
