ONC releases wave five of 2014 draft test procedures

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) published wave five of the draft test procedures for the 2014 edition of EHR certification criteria and is inviting the public to comment.

The procedures, which are intended to be finalized and published by early 2013, will be used by testing laboratories and certification bodies authorized by the ONC HIT Program to determine EHR systems’ compliance with standards established by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The public comment period for wave five draft test procedures will last for the two weeks following their publication date, Oct. 18. Specific criterion are listed on the ONC website and include:

  • Transitions of care;
  • Electronic prescribing;
  • View, download and transmit to third party; and
  • Inpatient setting transmission of reportable laboratory results.
