UPMC makes $100M investment into a data warehouse
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is investing $100 million over five years into a data warehouse with multiple analytics applications, along with partners Oracle, IBM, Informatica and dbMotion.
UPMC is engaging in a two-year project to install the hardware and software necessary to integrate data from more than 200 data sources across UPMC, including pharmacies, laboratories and the UPMC health plan, according to an Oct. 1 statement.
The university already stores more than 3.2 petabytes of information and a data warehouse will allow for multidisciplinary informatics research, with applications for administrative, clinical and accounting departments.
