ASRT Foundation names grant recipients
The American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) Education and Research Foundation has named recipients of its spring 2012 professional and seed grants.
Nina K. Kowalczyk, PhD, was awarded a $9,974 professional grant to conduct research with the Ohio State University to evaluate best practices for successful digital radiography system implementation training.
The foundation also awarded a $2,990 seed grant to Patrice A. Reese, RT, along with co-investigators Maria Phillips, BA, and Jeanette Troyer, MSN, for the launch of a project that will investigate the effects of aromatherapy on patients experiencing claustrophobia and anxiety during MRI procedures at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md.
The professional research grant program provides radiologic science professionals with funding to conduct a research project in affiliation with an academic or clinical institution. The seed grant program is designed to help radiologic technologists and radiation therapists launch new research projects.
Grant recipients submitted applications and were selected based on the strength of their proposal and alignment with the overall mission of the ASRT Foundation. The Foundation’s Research and Grants Advisory Panel evaluated grant applications and made recommendations to the Board of Trustees for funding. Recipients were then approved by the Board of Trustees.
Applications for the fall 2012 grant programs are being accepted through Aug. 1.
