Independa teams with Telcare on cloud-based glucose metering
Telcare’s BGM, the blood glucose meter that looks like a cellphone and wirelessly uploads diabetics’ blood-sugar readings to password-protected websites, will soon be able to send readings to Caregiver, the cloud-based web app created by elder-care company Independa.
The partnership between Bethesda, Md.-based Telcare and San Diego-based Independa will facilitate delivery of measurements to professional and family caregivers, precluding the need for phone calls to check on such information, according to Independa.
Independa develops technology for the elderly and those who care for them. Its Caregiver app provides a dashboard and control panel accessible by computer or tablet. Key thresholds and alert escalations are set within the Independa system and will be applied to Telcare data, Independa said.
Independa plans to distribute Telcare glucose monitoring starting May 1 through such channels as home health providers and senior living facilities.
