Sacred Heart University to offer master's in health IT

Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., is adding a graduate-level health IT program to its course catalog for the 2012 to 2013 academic year.

Graduates will receive a master's of science in healthcare information systems and program participants will learn about public policy, administrative and clinical software applications, EHRs and research methods, according to the university. Students will begin on one of two introductory paths depending on whether they have a healthcare or technology background.

Stephen C. Burrows, MBA, will direct the program. He currently serves as assistant director of the management of information systems department at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, Conn., and previously worked as manager of health IT at Qualidigm, a consulting firm in Rocky Hill, Conn.
