Akron Children's names Manekar CMIO

Amy J. Maneker, MD, has been named CMIO for Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio, effective Jan. 16.

In the new position, Maneker will support the development of Akron Children’s clinical information systems and assist clinicians in the delivery of patient care. She will work closely with the hospital’s medical staff, administration and IT department as Akron Children’s moves forward with its conversion to EMR, according to the hospital.

Maneker comes from Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital/University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland. Most recently, she served as an EMR director, physician design, leading the design and build of the EMR and being the physician lead for the implementation.

She holds degrees in biochemistry and medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and is currently enrolled in a certificate program in clinical informatics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.
