Joint Commission beefs up its board

The Joint Commission has appointed seven new members to its board of commissioners.

The seven new board members are: 
  • John A. Babiarz, COO of Aramark Healthcare; 
  • L.D. Britt, MD, MPH, Brickhouse Professor of Surgery and chairman at EVMS Health Services in Norfolk, Va.;
  • Albert J. Osbahr III, MD, family physician in Clyde, N.C.;
  • Stephen R. Permut, MD, JD, family physician in Wilmington, Del.;
  • David Pryor, MD, cheif medical officer for Ascension Health in St. Louis;
  • David Henry Perrott, DDS, MD, MBA, senior vice president and medical director at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System in Salinas, Calif.; and 
  • Joan M. Doyle, RN, MSN, MBA, executive director of Penn Home Care and Hospice Services, who will represent the home care field as a commissioner.

The Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based organization announced the appointments in a Jan. 11 news release.
