HIMSS: Sage demos cloud-enabled EHR

Sage Healthcare announced a partnership with HealthUnity to integrate HealthUnity’s cloud-based health information exchange (HIE) technology into Sage’s Intergy EHR. Sage showcased a working prototype of the HIE cloud technology during HIMSS11 in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 20 to 24.

Sage demonstrated patient data transmitted through Intergy, giving physicians in hospital and ambulatory systems access to information, said the Tampa, Fla.-based provider of EHR and practice management software and services.

The HealthUnity partnership allows Sage to connect to additional healthcare communities using standards-based protocols. The company will work with HealthUnity to deploy end-to-end HIE infrastructure to hospitals, accountable care organizations and other organizations planning to deploy HIE and EHR technology across a community of care.

Intergy provides clinical, financial and administrative functions via a single database with consolidated reporting and system maintenance. Data can be shared or isolated across practices and locations, allowing secure access from anywhere to providers and staff. Patients have access to their clinical records and a range of web-based services from the Sage Intergy Practice Portal.
