Merge seeks to sweeten image exchange

Merge Healthcare has unveiled Merge Honeycomb, a cloud-based service to enable users to upload, download, view and share medical images.

Merge Honeycomb will be a medical imaging sharing network open to anyone, Chicago-based Merge stated. When a physician needs to view images, he or she can log into the image sharing network via a web browser.

Referring physicians will be able to view images in real-time and make diagnoses accordingly. Because the network is permission based, images can only be viewed by those who have been granted privilege, the company added.
