FDA exec takes seat on AAMI standards program

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) has named Carol Herman, an FDA official, as its new senior vice president of standards and policy programs.

Herman currently serves as director of the standards program at the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health. She will leave the post at the end of the year and join AAMI on Jan. 1, replacing retiring standards leader Theresa Zuraski, according to an AAMI statement. Zuraski has been with AAMI since 1988 and will continue to work for the association as a consultant.

Herman started at the FDA in 1978, serving in various roles until taking her present post in 2000.
