Deltek releases report on healthcare contracting opportunities

Deltek, a Herndon, Va.-headquartered enterprise applications software developer, has released a report highlighting healthcare opportunities for contractors wanting to engage in the health IT space.

“National healthcare reform efforts have introduced seemingly endless opportunities in the state and local market,” the report stated. “The energy directed from these initiatives will result in substantial changes to states’ technologies and business processes over the next three to five years.”

The lack of guidance on some healthcare reform initiatives has left many states unsure of how various systems will look, according to the report. “For that, vendor support will be needed in reviewing and restructuring business operations to allow future systems to interface and meet functional and information requirements.”

The top opportunities and their estimated values include:

Medicaid Management Information Systems:
  • Texas Medicaid Management Information System Fiscal Agent Services–$300 million
  • Florida Medicaid Management Information System Fiscal Agent Services–$300 million

Health Information Exchanges:

  • Massachusetts Statewide Health Information Exchange–$45 million
  • Arizona Health Information Exchange Services–$30 million

Health Insurance Exchanges:

  • California Health Insurance Exchange–$45 million
  • Illinois Health Insurance Exchange–$25 million
