Idaho's health information network expands

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Pathologists’ Regional Laboratory of Lewiston, Idaho, are connected and using the Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE) to exchange patient data with other healthcare providers throughout the state.

IHDE, through the Axolotl HIE platform from OptumInsight, allows authorized and participating providers and physicians to electronically exchange patient information.

“Connecting hospitals, physicians and healthcare providers is part of IHDE’s efforts to improve the coordination and quality of healthcare in Idaho,” said Scott Carrell, executive director at IHDE. IHDE has connected several hospitals, more than 200 participating users and independent reference labs to the statewide health information exchange, and is working to connect additional physician practices, hospitals, lab and radiology centers in Idaho.
