AHIMA selects Thomas Gordon as new CEO

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) board of directors has appointed Lynne Thomas Gordon, MBA, as CEO, effective Sept. 29.

Thomas Gordon joins AHIMA after serving as associate vice president for hospital operations and director of the Children’s Hospital at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, according to a statement from AHIMA board President Bonnie S. Cassidy, MPA.

Prior to joining the Children's Hospital at Rush, Thomas Gordon served as the administrator of Houston Medical Center in Georgia and the COO of Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Shands Healthcare in Florida.

Thomas Gordon holds active membership in AHIMA and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and has served on the information management task force of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and Governor on the ACHE board, the statement added.
