N.C. HIE adds 10 practices to roster

Coastal Connect Health Information Exchange (CCHIE) has connected 10 unaffiliated physician practices to its health information exchange (HIE).

In three days these practices were connected and electronically transmitting patient referrals using Medicity's iNexx technology, according to the Wilmington, N.C.-based CCHIE, who added that the next phase will include delivery of clinical results and reports to these practices from five local hospitals.

The rollout of this tool will begin in October with the goal to connect 144 physician practices within the first year, CCHIE reported.
