GE Healthcare acquires event reporting tech
GE Healthcare Performance Solutions has acquired the Medical Event Reporting System (MERS) patient safety evaluation technology from Netherlands-based MERS International to assist capturing, reporting and analyzing safety events and near misses.
MERS software helps providers capture harmful events (such as medication errors, healthcare-associated infections and other types of events) and tracks no-harm events, near misses and unsafe conditions, GE Healthcare, of Barrington, Ill., stated.
GE stated it is currently working with 16 hospitals across the U.S. as well as clinics, physician offices, surgery centers, laboratory services and other groups to deploy the technology.
