Singapore deploys nationwide EHR
Accenture and Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) Holdings have launched a national EHR system. The first phase of the national EHR implementation will provide a single health record for healthcare professionals across the continuum.
As patients visit primary care clinics, acute and community hospitals, clinicians will be able to access a single patient record to obtain current medical information. The EHR captures patient demographics, diagnosis, medications, tests, procedures and discharge summaries, according to Accenture, a management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
“Our goal is for all Singapore health organizations to have real-time clinical information for treating patients,” stated Sarah Muttitt, MD, CIO at MOH Holdings, the holding company of Singapore’s public healthcare institutions.
Phase one of the Singapore nationwide EHR go-live was deployed in 10 months, Accenture stated. Future phases will include care coordination and team-based care, an extended clinical tool set and clinical and business intelligence features, according to MOH Holdings.
